Hello, I'm Cortland and we have a lot in common.

As a husband and father, my journey to recovery has been painful, even unbearable at times, but I have found peace and in leaving pornography behind and overcoming its powers. 

I was exposed to pornography at a young age, which then turned into a 14-year habit. I struggled to find relief through the years of pain, people-pleasing, and isolation

When I decided to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, it was the first time that I had gone more than a week without viewing pornography. I was able to make it two whole years without a problem!

Leaving behind the mission, the support, and the structure, I fell back into my old habit. Returning home was very difficult for me. I felt alone. I felt like I had no support, and like I was failing myself and God because of the struggles that I was having. I had no direction, no purpose, and no sense of happiness.

I met the love of my life, Simone, and I finally felt like I was going to be successful. But, I wasn't. After years of marriage, I had to share with her my continued struggle with leaving behind pornography. IT HURT A LOT! Many tears were shed. I felt like shame and regret. Recovery eventually came, but not without its ups and downs.

As a Christian man, a father, a husband, and a returned missionary, I felt like I had failed in life. I needed support, but I didn't know what it looked like or felt like.

For that reason, I founded Ever Onward Coaching, hoping that I might find you and be able to provide the support you need.

I am a practicing school psychologist, certified life coach, and public speaker. I advocate for openness surrounding the topics of pornography consumption, suicide awareness, and return missionary support. I have presented at BYU, for the National Conference for School Psychologists, and am a public speaker.
